Nourishing Against the Grain- A Title Says it All

Welcome to my blog! I am glad you are here.

Let me start with a few things about me....

I love GOOD nutrition.

I love my family.

I love seeing the effects of good nutrition on my family and on myself.

I love my job as a stay-at-home mom and the ability it gives me to best serve my family.

I love Jesus and feel my faith in Christ allows me to have the confidence to nurture my family even if I am not politically correct.  I keep good company, I guess,  because Jesus was definitely not politically correct.

I love the Bible it gives me a great source from which I can base my nutrition. It allows me to agree and disagree with different viewpoints regarding nutritional beliefs.  It also has given me the freedom to explore what God has provided for us.  It also challenges some of my thoughts on eating and pushes me to seek the optimal life God has in store.  Often times I fall short....but isn't life a journey not a destination?

I love reading, studying and applying good nutrition and holistic principles.  My husband thinks I am going off the deep end a little, but maybe the deep end isn't always all that bad.  I've spent a lifetime caring what people think and I guess to some extent I always will, but the older I get the more confident I've become in who I am....cellulite and all!  Okay, the cellulite still stinks...

I dream of making a change in our world, even if only in my circle of life.  Which is why I am writing this blog.  When you believe in something so strongly you want to share it with the world.  I feel like I have walked around in ignorance for far too long. I hope that through this blog there is a growing sense that we are all capable of gaining better health and eating tastier food.  The food that nature and God provides for us, not the anti-foods that the scientist have created lead us to health and wellness.  The standard American diet is killing us.  Let us stop being guinea pigs. We are not science experiments, and we are not at the fools the (anti-)food INDUSTRY wants us to be.  Let us stop trusting blindly too much is at stake.

A title says it all....I have been wrestling with the title of my blog and finally decided Nourishing Against the Grain pretty much sums up what the blog will be about.  Nourishing, it is the most important aspect of the blog.   But, I also learned early on that if I really wanted to nourish my family I was going to have to go against the grain in more ways than one.  The more I study the more I realize following a lifestyle of eating that heals and nourishes is TOTALLY against the grain of the world we live in.   Also, you will discover that my philosophy of eating is also against the grains on our plates. (I do believe that some grains are okay for certain people if prepared properly, but that, my friend, is for another post.)

So join me on my continued journey of nourishing against the grain.  Maybe we will all learn something along the way.  We won't be perfect, but I don't guess I ever have been nor will ever be!

Going against the grain isn't always easy, but it sure can be tasty....

*This blog will mainly be about nourishing foods, but as I have discovered foods touch many other aspects in life.  So at times, we will need to pull in faith, government, school systems, our medical systems, farms, and food industry to get a grip on living against the grain.

** I am not an expert, and shoot, I don't even play one on TV, but I am well read and I have seen the effects of good nutrition and the power of healing through faith and good food.  If you disagree with my opinion please to take the time to discover why your beliefs are what you believe.  Like me, you might be surprised to see your beliefs change and grow in knowledge and wisdom.
